Meet the Japanese Koi Breeders

Every koi we sell comes from a named Japanese farm, and these are the farms we buy from most. Tom Lai selects the fish in Japan at harvest, at the farm, which is why each listing carries a breeder name you can look up rather than a vague "imported from Japan." Most of these farms are in Niigata, in the Ojiya and Nagaoka hills where nishikigoi started; the rest are in Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Shimane, Toyama and Yamanashi. Search by name, filter by the varieties a farm is known for, or sort by what is in stock, then pick a breeder to read who runs the farm and see their koi.
