Suetsugu is a Fukuoka Prefecture farm, one of the Kyushu breeders, and not a name you will find on many dealer lists outside Japan. The Japanese trade lists it as Suetsugu Fish Farm (末次養éšå ´). What it sends to ChampKoi is Gosanke: Kohaku, Sanke and Showa, with the occasional Ginrin Showa and Goshiki.
The farm is run by Koji Suetsugu and his wife Midori. RINKO, the oldest Japanese koi magazine, interviewed the farm in January 2023 about its push toward producing large koi, and that is the direction to judge the fish by: body and frame first.
Suetsugu-bred fish also turn up in the UK. At the 2021 BKKS National, a Suetsugu Bekko and a Suetsugu Hikarimoyo each took Best in Class for their size. That is a modest record and we are not going to dress it up. Buy Suetsugu on the individual fish: judge the photo, not the name.
ChampKoi imports koi from Suetsugu.
