Microbe-Lift® Lice & Anchor Worm treats the two crustacean parasites that hang on visibly: fish lice and anchor worm.
How it works
The active ingredient is cyromazine, an insect growth regulator that interferes with chitin formation. Because it targets the way crustaceans build their shells, it hits lice and anchor worm while leaving your fish, your snails and your biological filter alone — which is what makes it gentler than the older organophosphate treatments.
Treating properly
- Do a 20% water change before dosing.
- Three treatments, one week apart. Anchor worm and lice have life stages the treatment can't touch, so a single dose leaves you with a re-infestation in a fortnight. Do all three.
- Repeat the 20% water change before each re-treatment.
- Shake the bottle well before use.
- Usable in water temperatures above 40°F (4°C).
Warnings
- Must NOT be used in systems where crayfish or other crustaceans are kept. The same chemistry that kills the parasite kills them. If you keep shrimp or crayfish, this is not your treatment.
- Do not combine with other medications.
- Safe for ornamental pond fish including scaleless species, and for reptiles, amphibians and snails. Will not harm biological filtration used as directed.
- Not for fish or invertebrates intended for human consumption. Not for human or veterinary use.
- Keep out of reach of children. Store between 40–100°F, out of sunlight, do not freeze.
Dosage
The pond formula doses at 1 fl oz per 300 gallons. Microbe-Lift also sells an aquarium formula at a different strength, so check the label on the bottle you receive and dose to that, not to a figure remembered from elsewhere. If in doubt, call us before you pour.
Why buy from ChampKoi?
ChampKoi has kept koi healthy from our San Jose, California facility since 1998. Not sure what you're looking at on your fish? Send us a photo before you treat — anchor worm is unmistakable once you've seen it, and several other things aren't.
