Schedule 40 PVC ball valves for koi pond plumbing, in 1", 1-1/2" and 2".
Why a pond needs more valves than you think
A ball valve costs less than a takeaway meal and it is the difference between a ten-minute job and a very bad afternoon. Fit one either side of every pump, on each bottom drain, on the skimmer line, and on the filter inlet and outlet. Then when the pump seal fails in October, you close two valves and lift it out — instead of draining several thousand gallons and rehoming your fish.
Two things worth planning for
- Size the valve to the pipe, not down from it. Necking a 2" line down to a 1-1/2" valve costs you head, and on a gravity-fed system head is the whole budget.
- Put a union next to each valve. Solvent-welded valves are glued in permanently. A union beside the valve means the valve itself can be replaced one day without a hacksaw.
Before you order
Connection type and pressure rating vary by manufacturing run. If you are matching an existing installation or working to a specification, contact us and we'll confirm what's currently on the shelf before you buy.
